Wayne County Puts the “Great” in the Great Outdoors

In Wayne County, Ohio, there is open space, hundreds of miles of trails, preserved forests, natural habitats and acres of lakes. So whether you like walking, hiking, biking, swimming, fishing, boating, kayaking, or all of the above, you can do it in Wayne County. Here, it’s easy to get outside and get moving. If you want to extend your outdoor adventures into an overnight or vacation, some options include Evergreen Park RV Resort, The Roosevelt Glamp Camp and Prairie Lane Lake Park.

Some of Wayne County’s trails are longer than the county itself. The Rails to Trails Heartland Trail project is under development in Wayne County to complete an extensive trail network that stretches throughout Ohio. The Heartland Trail will also be a part of the route of the Great American Rail Trail which traverses the United States from the Atlantic coast in Washington D.C. to the Pacific coast in Washington state.

Are organized sports your thing? There’s the state-of-the-art Aspen Racquet Club, and public golf courses such as the Chippewa Golf Club, The Pines Golf Club and Riceland Golf Course. Wooster Country Club is a private golf course option.
