Our Community Summed Up

Wayne County is located in Northeast Ohio, approximately 60 miles southwest of Cleveland and 35 miles west of both Akron and Canton. The community is considered to be a leader in regionalism efforts through its active support of organizations such as Team NEO, the Cleveland + branding initiative, Fund for Our Economic Future and Team Ohio.
Over the past several decades, Wayne County has evolved into one of the most dynamic small communities in the country. We offer the advantages of small-town living with the amenities offered by three neighboring metropolitan areas.   We pride ourselves on our agricultural heritage and the work ethic it has engendered in our labor force and also because it has propelled us into one of the elite areas of the US for technology and R&D associated with the agbiosciences.

We also have vibrant, international manufacturing community that has prospered here as well. Companies like J.M Smucker, Bosch, Snap-On, Worthington Industries, Purina, Scotts and Pepsico all have operations in Wayne County. They are joined by a host of other local manufacturing concerns that continue to grow due to lower costs, cooperative governments and ready access to markets.
Here are a few additional facts about Wayne County that might be of interest:

  • The area is home to one of the highest ranked liberal arts colleges in the country.
  • A community profile prepared by the Ohio Department of Development is available here.
