Becoming a WEDC Investor
The Wayne Economic Development Council focuses our community’s resources on helping companies expand, prosper and locate in the area. We are funded cooperatively by the county, local communities and private businesses representing a diverse base of local and national companies in a broad array of industries. They share a keen interest in business growth, not only for their own companies but countywide.
WEDC investors share a vision for our region and a commitment to our long-term economic sustainability and vitality. The board of directors, business investors and staff of the WEDC have a record of success that reflects the tremendous cooperation by our public and private sectors. Each has gone well above the civic and/or corporate call of duty and contributed financially and intellectually to the execution of the WEDC mission:

Frequently Asked Questions
Why should my firm support the Economic Development Council?
The Wayne Economic Development Council is the only organization pro-actively marketing the county to attract business investment, which translates directly to jobs and a healthy economy.
What are the benefits of investing for my firm?
Your firm's investment in the WEDC will ensure a greater volume of business in our region. An investment demonstrates your company's commitment to progress and economic vitality. A full range of value-added benefits are provided with your investment. Our return on investment calculator can quantify the potential new business you can expect from our efforts based upon your current market share.

Investors also have the opportunity to participate in committees, task forces and the board of directors of the WEDC. These meetings are a forum for the interchange of ideas between investors and the community’s leadership.
Isn't my investment in the Chamber accomplishing the same thing?
No. The WEDC and the Chamber of Commerce have distinctly different yet complementary agendas. The Chamber serves as the voice of the business community, striving to improve the quality of life with a business advocate's role. The WEDC is a marketing and sales organization actively promoting our county to national and international business; it works to bring new job-producing investments to the area.
Doesn't the Economic Development Council already have enough funds?
In the highly competitive economic development industry, our annual budget is one of the smallest. Research shows that the average spending for economic development by Ohio communities is $5.31 per capita. The Wayne Economic Development Council funding is more than 60% below this average at $2.05 per capita.
As a result, the Council is recognized as one of the most efficient operations of its type in the country, maximizing the effectiveness of its budget. Your support of the WEDC efforts will help Wayne County become increasingly competitive.
Will my annual investment really make a difference?
YES. Every incremental increase in our budget means an increase in the marketing programs we are able to conduct. The more Wayne County is recognized around the world as an ideal business location, the more jobs are created for our citizens and the volume of business in our county multiplies.
How is my investment made?
Investments are pro-rated in the first year and several payment options are available. You may choose annual, monthly or quarterly payment options.
